LC1's School Assembly

Last Thursday was LC1's School Assembly. Everyone worked very hard, and we all did lots of practice in the week before the Assembly.  On the day LC1 was very excited but a little bit nervous too.
Kendall and Henry were our two presenters, and they started with their mihi.

The 'hook' for our Assembly came from Toby's special toy penguin.
We wanted to find out more about penguins, and about other sea creatures.

LC1 also wanted to learn how to draw penguins, so we learnt, practised, and completed our artworks using pastel and dye. Here are some of them. Korbin and Corbyn explained how we made our artworks.

Toby had a new book about the history of dinosaurs, and he learnt about dinosaur fish. We made a photo story about them.
During our Assembly we  sang two songs with actions. They were Yellow Submarine, and Under the Sea.

Some children shared lots of facts we had learnt about different sea creatures. As well as penguins, we learnt about sea horses, sharks, and blue whales. Katie, Emma, Mila, Mac, Lily, and Jordan shared their facts.

Later in our Assembly, we performed our 'Play' called The Magic Fish. Holly was the wife and Corbyn was the fisherman. Jordan, Mila, Mac, Troy, Katie, and Emma were the narrators.

   Kelly was the magic fish.

The wife was never satisfied for long after her wishes had been granted, and told her husband to ask for more from the magic fish.

The fish grew angry, and the wife ended up gettiing her old house back again, because she hadn't been satisfied with a nice house, a mansion or a castle.  We shouldn't be greedy Holly said, and we should be satisfied with what we have.
Kendall and Henry explained, and gave examples of  how we had needed to use all parts of Nga Matapono for our Assembly. We had to Persist and be Competent, be Creative, be Effective Communicators, and be Self Managing.
At the end of our Assembly LC1 was chosen to get the Tamatea Trophy. That was an exciting way to end our Assembly.
Everyone sang well, spoke clearly, and felt proud of all themselves.
