ANZAC Day

We researched about ANZAC Day and learnt a lot of information. Some of the stories we read helped us understand how hard things were for the young people who went to fight on the other side of the world, so that we could have freedom. Many of them lost their lives. Each person's family would have been so sad.
We shared stories that we had been told, about people in our own families who had fought in the wars. We made a poppy each, and put it onto a wreath to lay at the flagpole during our ANZAC Day service on the Friday before ANZAC Day. Our class also drew and coloured a special poppy to help remember the soldiers. We wrote about what we had learnt about ANZAC Day, and we showed we had remembered lots of information.
On the day before our ANZAC service, any person who had someone from their 'family' who had fought in a war and had died, made a special poppy. The person's name was put on it, and it was planted in front of all the white crosses of soldiers who had been killed from this area.
Here are a few photos.
